I create furniture containing angles and forms not commonly found in modernism. I Draw inspiration from the artistic practices of art Nouveau letting nature inform my design. Triangular and branching legs appear frequently. The fractals of trees, roots, and where those patterns are found in nature and applied to furniture in an attempt to bring nature back to modern life. I make lamps resembling the growth of roots, reaching up from the ground, with custom made lampshades breaking away from the traditional cylinders and cones. Instead, I take inspiration from naturally occurring forms like larval pods. Forms such as insects' exoskeletons, their joints and layering plates of armor inform the profiles and details of the pieces.
I want the elements and influences of nature to take hold of everyday objects transforming them without directly mimicking the sources that they are based on. Through my creations I hope to bring the connection I have with the trees to others. A feeling of peace, comfort, and home. I strive to have my work feel alive, organic, yet remain functional within the setting of the home. Serving a purpose but having a personality of its own. Person and object their own entities but serve each other. I want people to see that Humanity and Nature are not opposing forces, but rather symbiotic partners eternally fused together.
